Blessed
Then I came home and the boys were up early and the kitchen was a mess and I was just feeling overwhelmed and said okay God, I guess Satan is trying to tempt me into having a bad day and calling Andrew and complaining. So we are going to have to get through this together because I know I can't do it alone. Then, I got online while the boys were eating their breakfast and read a wonderful email from a counselor from the school I used to teach at who also has twin boys. Her boys are 16 now and I started thinking ahead and started getting overwhelmed again.
Then I started reading through my usual blogs. I don't think I have mentioned it but a college friend of mine, Beth, noted a blog on her blog about a family who really needed some prayer. You can read up on them on his blog, but a long story short. The wife of the man who writes the blog has cystic fibrosis. She has really been struggling after the premature birth of their daughter and then she (the mom) had a double lung transplant. Well, if that is not enough, she has just been diagnosed with post transplant lymphoma. Yes, cancer after all that they have been through. It is amazing after all this they are still praising the Lord. They are truly inspiring when it comes to their faith. Then, I realized how shallow I was thinking about how awful it was that my kitchen was a mess and the boys were up early! I am so blessed that they are here and they are "safe and sound." Nathan's re-post of a video clip he did makes me cry every time I watch it. (Listen to me talk like I know him, all I know is that he is a brother in Christ).
I realized by listening to the words how blessed we are to be children of God where we are also safe and sound. I hope I can live up to being the kind of parent that God would want me to be and to keep my children safe and sound. I also know that I can not do it with out Him. Anyway, I know that was kind of all over the place and I hope that it kind of made sense. I just feel led to share their amazing story and what I am learning from it. I hope you will also gain something from their story as I have and also keep them in your prayers.

What a month!
We did a lot of playing with cousins. We were there for cousin Jett's 3rd birthday and cousin Adie's first birthday. I had lunch with a high school friend. We saw our mom and dad's best friends aka "the gang". We had a campfire with my mom's family at my cousin's house. My college friend Sue even drove over from Ohio and spent the night with us. In other words, the boys got to meet and see a lot of people who helped make me the person that I am and have been very influential in my life. It was nice to just spend time with family even though it was stressful at times. Between the stitches, my kids having a biting problem, and some fevers here and there it was a very wonderful trip. We made it back in one piece and now we are trying to settle down.
We made our first trip to the emergency room yesterday. The boys had not been themselves since we had gotten back and both had a case of diarrhea. Well, yesterday when Gavin woke up from his nap he could not hold his head up. It scared me to death. He had a fever the night before so I was panicked. At the ER we found out he had an ear infection and bronchiolitis. Now Drew has been running a fever so we are going to take him to the Dr. this afternoon. Between the time difference and being sick, I have not had a full nights sleep in like 2 months. I realized how spoiled I was before. They are also cutting two teeth each so they have been pretty cranky. They did sleep in until 8 this morning so I got to sleep in too.
We had a really nice visit with Aunt Michelle and cousin Katherine. It was very nice to have an extra set of hands for the week and catch up with them. Drew learned to sign more this week so he has been very entertaining with that. They both have found a love for climbing the stairs so it was nice to have someone else be able to follow them up. We miss them already. Andrew, Katherine, and Michelle went for a day hike a couple of hours a way where they took this picture.
We are now gearing up and trying to get everyone well for their birthday parties this week. We had hoped they would take their first steps before then but I think we are going to have to wait a while for that. They are crawling fast enough to get into enough trouble. Speaking of trouble, they are sleeping so I better get some things done. I hope to post later this week for their birthday!
